I've seen it on Crete as well, but not in the rest of Europe. Seems a bit crazy to me.
Street signs with bullet holes in the U.S are fairly common in the rural landscape.You could almost dedicate an entire blog to it.Hmmm! It is crazy enough... it just might work!
